What kind of housing is it when the rent is based on income?
I don't think it's subsidized housing because they didn't even ask me if I had a family. I am just a single student but they said my income determines my rent. I thought you had to go to the city to get subsidized housing. If anyone has ever heard of that, what percentage of my income will be the rent?

- it depends on where you live. and subsidized housing doesn't mean its owned by the city, it means that the housing is subsidized by them, and the company gets paid a portion of your rent by the government and the rest comes from you. its called Geared-Income Housing. Meaning your income determines your rent. many housing companies such as these, and co-ops are not owned by the crown/state. they simply receive funding from them to keep your rents low.
- Subsidized by the Housing and Urban Development, HUD or Section 8. Your individual situation determines the percentage of rent, you may have a part time job, you may have other disability income, these things determine what you pay.
- In the US it Section 8 housing.
