Where is a good place to find subsidized housing in Illinois?

Looking forward to moving but would like to find a place where my living status does not exceed my income. Subsidize housing offers this but it hard to locate communities that offer it. I prefer somewhere in the burbs so any one living in Illinois who has some knowledge of this, please respond.

1. Go to the Dept. of Housing and Urban Developement's (HUD) or local housing authority website and search for subsidized housing. Most local housing authorities have websites to search for low cost housing. You didn't post the what city your looking in, so I couldn't post their HA website. But I'm sure it'll be easy to find.
