List Only

What are the steps for suing a company that keeps calling me even though I'm registered Do-Not-Call list?

A paint and roofing company once got my number from a personal referral and they keep calling me asking if I still want to paint my house. They call about every 6 monts to a year even though each time I tell them to take me off their call list. I also tell them that my number is registered on Do-Not-Call.gov I've documented at least three times that they've done this to me. Thanks.

  1. I believe that the Attorney General's office in the state government is the best place to go. They will pursue it, and you won't have to sue.
  2. So you get called twice a year? How do you handle such blatant harassment of being called twice a year! OH my god! Good luck with your case. Hopefully the judge isn't an idiot and can see through you. Not everyone follows the do-not-call list. In Canada, only 75% of organizations are subject to it. Non-profit organizations don't use it..
  3. Go to the Do Not Call website & file a complaint.
  4. You can't sue them for doing that the same has happened to me but its like every 2 days they call so just tell them to stop calling and while your telling them that yell act angry!
  5. I think they may be aware of the law that says that in order to avoid litigation they can't call twice in one year. There's a slew of information on this page (at the bottom): http://www.panix.com/~eck/telemarket.html And here: http://redtape.msnbc.com/2007/02/suing_telemarke.html
  6. Either notify your state's Attorney General or file a complain at the donotcall.gov website.
