I gave away a free puppy on Craigslist but if the puppy bites or does something, can I get sued?
I listed the description and its personality of the puppy on the Craigslist ad and they still wanted it. Its a pitbull terrier mix and she sorta bites accidentally when you're playing with her and I don't know how shes gonna turn out when she gets older. She hasn't bit anyone but I'm afraid I might get sued if she does bite the new owner or their children or something.

- If you explained exactly how the puppy acts, and they still wanted it, it is in their hands now. There's not a thing they can do to you because it's their dog now. It's definitely not your responsibility if something happens in the future - especially if the dog isn't in your care.
- If they can trace this question back to you personally then, yes, you may have a problem. But if you have warned the new owners of this trait you have nothing to worry about.
- Yes I think you may.. pit bull terrier are both aggressive breeds.. Please get your pets fixed, having unfixed litter after litter pets can create up to the thousands of unwanted pets in a five year period, they will be abused and unwanted homeless and murdered!! Very few pets have good homes.. Please fix your pets you have now.. and get this puppy fixed before you give her away
- no, you wont. all puppies nip when they play.even if the puppy was a biter they got the dog at their own risk and it is their problem not yours. you said so yourself that she doesnt bite anyone only nips when she plays so dont worry about it.
- You won't get sued. You clearly expressed the puppies personality and the nipping, so it's basically buyer beware. As to how she'll turn out she'll be fine. I have lab mix who was the same way when she was a puppy and she grew out of it. All puppies are going to nip when they play, it's completely normal.
- cool - you gave away a puppy on craigslist and they took it even though you said is sort of bites - probably going to be used in the dog fighting business to train fighting dogs - it will be bait and won't live long - so probably don't have to worry about it ever biting children. Way to go -
- You should have known better to give a dog with a history of biting to a family with children!
