How can I tell if my Sims "like" an apartment?

I always make it an option to have my sim review an apartment first before I buy it, but my issue is I can never tell if they genuinely like it or not. Nine times out a ten, when I eventually select an apartment, their environment bar lowers significantly meaning that they clearly DON'T like the environment. Is there a trick to it or am I missing something? It seems like a pointless action to me. [So, it's just a pointless action as I predicted. Lovely. Thanks guys]

1. reviewing it really doesnt matter, just load up the apartment with art and lights (and windows if you can) and their environment meter will go right back up
2. wait. what kind of Sims is this? Sims2? I play sims 1 but if its sims 2, i still know it. :) *addict here* anyway, whatever reason your character has for hating the place, satisfy it. If he doesnt like certain furnitures and stuff, change it until you find the right one. Also, choose a place where your dude doesnt need to walk around. Even in real life, it sucks when you had to pass by so many rooms to get some food. :D and you'd hate it if you dont like the furniture.
