Will the economy make women go back to being full time housewives and mothers to loosen up more jobs for the?
men? Society seems to still think in terms of men being the main bread winner. So, if there were more jobs given up for men, the economy just might get better. Am I right? Remember, as the economy gets worst, the pay rates go down. This will make a lot of things cheaper so that the retailers can sell them.

- I don't think so.
- Doubtful. Seeing as employers aren't going to magically raise the pay rate. You're probably going to see less stay-at-home parents in general. The companies that are still in business will simply be able to hire more cheap labor than before because people are so desperate. Now, if somehow, every woman decided to not work (or at least married ones) and men all refused to work unless they got paid roughly double what they are getting now. Then, we would see this happen. But there's nearly 0% chance of that happening. It would require a level of common sense and unity far beyond what people are capable of.
- Kept women are a hobby for a "fat " economy .
- What?! THis is a strange and abstract questions!
- Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha..Good one
- No. Because oftentimes one "breadwinner" per family simply isn't enough to keep the household out of the red.
- No. If anything both mom and dad will have to get 2 jobs each.
- That all depends some households do not have a male as the primary bread winner. Some men get women pregnant and then leave and she has to raise the children alone without any help. So to put all women out of their jobs would be cruel. those who should stay home are ones with husbands making a living. That would free up more jobs and have one income at least coming into the family. Only tell that to the big boss he cannot have his secretary? Or the doctor who cannot have his register nurse at his side.
- Well if you men all wanted the to take over positions at women's magazines, start creating designs and fueling the fashion industry- which is a necesity at this point to our economy- and doing several different jobs that require women to actually do them, if men think they can handle all of that, then the economy would probably get WORSE. I mean most straight guys have no interest whatsoever and writing from a women's point of view, so why would women give up their positions to men?
- HA! Women will be just as hungry for jobs as men. There's no time for whinging about who the main breadwinner should be, as long as somebody wins something.
- Huh? So a family is struggling because of the economy and one person who helps bring in money should quit and stop brining in the income for....what exactly? And...why? Because she's a woman? How does that even make sense? If a house is reliant on two incomes it never makes sense to go down to one.
- YES DEY WILL!!!!!! THEM WOMENS BEST BE IN DA KITCHEN BY 7:00 AND HAVE ME MY DINNAH REDY!!!!!
- My God - another brilliant thought by one of our resident . . . uh, people. How did Barack Obama miss naming you as one of his economic advisors? Oh, wait. You were one of Bush's economic advisors, weren't you? That explains a lot.
- A better solution is for American companies to bring back all of the jobs they've shipped to other countries to avoid paying Americans a living wage. Ford wants to take their bailout money and use it for their plants in Mexico - how about they move those plants back up here instead?
- Plenty of American households are headed by a woman or depend on a woman's income to keep a roof over their heads. So you're left with households that can afford one of the partners to stay home, which they may have been able to do before the recession hit, but with expenses going up and wages staying stagnant, I would think there would be even less women staying home, as the family simply couldn't afford it. Your theory isn't logical.
