I am emigrating to Hobart Tasmania next year. What are the cost and availability of apartment rentals there? ?

Looking for a one or two bedroom aprtment for my wife and I. Just wondering what the rental situation is (price and how many rentals there are)?

Hi i moved to hobart about 18 months ago and when i first got here i was able to stay with friends witch was a good thing because it took me 5 months to find some where to live! but does al depend on what and where you want, i needed a 3 bedroom house close to a high school and managed to find 1 for $250 a week there is a housing shortage at the moment so that does'nt make it any easyer! go to www.realestate.com.au and follow the prompts to hobart and that should help you find what your looking for. 2. Never been to Tas... but www.domain.com.au usually lists a lot of the rentals available Australia wide. It's the best starting point.
3. www.realestate.com.au and www.domain.com.au are the online tools however not all available rentals are advertised there I would also recommend contacting the local real estate agents to see what they have on their books, also the Saturdayy edition of the Mercury High demand areas like Sandy Bay and Battery Point will always attract a premium and the rental pool is fairly small. You must also consider work/study needs if you don't have a car then public transport is not fantastic (only buses) and so paying more to be close to what you need is a good option
