  1. 24 weeks is almost 6 months! Most good truck driving schools will teach you enough that you can go to the local DMV and pass your written and practical test and get your CDL in about 4-5 weeks. If you spend any longer than that in school, you're wasting your money and your time. Here's a couple of national trucking companies that run their own schools, and will provide you with the training and a job after you finish! They'll even pay for the cost of your school if you sign a contract to work for them after you're done with school... http://www.crengland.com http://www.swifttrans.com http://www.schneider.com
  2. If you're from PA, I know a great company that hires out of your area.. but you would have to go to school out of state for 3 weeks. The company is Driver Solutions, and they recruit, train, and place entry level truck drivers. They work with PAM Transport and USA Truck, and they will set you all up with CDL training at a school and get you a job with one of the companies before you even leave for training. You only go to school for 3 weeks and they pay you $200 while you're there.. also, it's company-sponsored, so the company that hires you pays for your training upfront and you don't have to get a loan or a cosigner or anything. I used it and it worked great for me - I think you would go to their Indianapolis, IN campus. It's a really nice school! Their website is: http://www.otrdrivers.com.
