Paid with paypal on craigslist: suggested backup plan just in case?

Okay so I know it was really risky, but I decided to pay for an ipod on craigslist; the guy lives in hamilton and Im in austin so he said he'd ship to me once he got the funds via paypal. Just want to know who to go to if he doesn't end up shipping or the item is not as advertised. Should I end up contacting paypal or my bank?

  1. Hopefully when you paid with paypal, you used your credit card on file. Paypal is a pain in the you know what. When it comes to losing money, it seems that paypal cant (or wont) help you. They will use excuse after excuse on why your transaction cannot be covered. If you were lucky enough to use your credit card on file with paypal, you have the upper hand. If paypal still gives you trouble, one phone call to your credit card and simply dispute the charge. This way you will ALWAYS win and never get scammed on your dime. PS. This is also why paypal tries to make you use your bank account to pay, they know that a chargeback is the last thing they want and there is nothing they can do about it....so in the future, ALWAYS use your credit card on file as the method of payment.
