Are there free government grants that you don't need to pay back to get house windows?
I AM INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR A FREE GOVERNMENT GRANT SO THAT I CAN GET NEW VINYL WINDOWS INSTALLED. I AM TOTALLY UNABLE TO AFFORD THIS DUE TO MY MORTGAGE PAYMENT. WE HAVE A CHILD AND THERE IS MOLD BUILD UP FROM USING VERY OLD STORM WINDOWS. WE NEED THE WINDOWS INSTALLED AT LEAST IN HALF THE HOUSE. I WOULD BE HAPPY WITH JUST DOING HALF OF THE HOUSE WINDOWS.

- I don't know that you will find something that specific, although the government spends money on just about everything else these days. I would recommend that you first seek help from some private charities in your area. It they can't help you directly, they would probably be the best people to guide you in the right direction. That said, if there is a government program that can help you, it is probably handled by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In the sources I put the website where you can find the HUD branch offices. If you contact the one nearest to you, they will be able to give you more information. I also included a site that lists some government grants and financial aid, although I don't know how much help it will be to you exactly. Good luck with your house!
- I did a bunch of searching on this, and the only thing I could find was federally-funded loans to help with the problem. If you meet certain income guidelines though, in my county there is something called PRC that helps with emergencies, if these windows threaten the safety of your family, you may be eligible. Also HUD does have grants but you need to call them about it. There is very little information on their website.
