How does Craig's List make their money?

I've shopped from Crag's list and noticed there wasn't any advertisements on his web-page. It doesn't cost anything to post something up, so my question is how does he make his money??

1. Certain types of advertisements cost money to post. It costs money for a company to post an ad in the employment section, and in select cities, it costs money to post an ad about apartments/housing available for rent. That's where they get their money. They offer all the other sections completely free of charge, and keep their website free of 3rd party ads so that they will be firmly established as the best online classifieds period. With that reputation as being the first place people look for online classifieds, it makes employers and landlords willing to pay a reasonable fee to post ads in those particular sections.
