What do I do if my landlord has failed to repair problems in my apartment?
I have repeatedly put in requests for repairs in my apartment since I moved in 4 moths ago. My A/C took almost 2 months to fix and my dryer, my dishwasher and my larger stove top hasn't been fixed since day 1. I know in my lease contract I have the right to end my lease which I WANT to do. But I don't know what to do from this point. Can anyone help me or guide me on what I should do next?

- First, put in your requests in writing. Phone messages don't cut it. Second, your landlord (depending on your location) MUST fix certain items within a reasonable amount of time. In my state, they would have 14 days to make a reasonable effort to make repairs that affect the habitability of the unit, i.e. A/C or stove repairs. Unless there was some reason (hurricane, strike) these repairs couldn't be performed within that time, you could terminate your rental agreement immediately. See laws in YOUR state for specifics. Make sure your written requests are sent certified mail, so you have proof. Wait the required time. Then find another place to live.
