1. i think it was a combination of oprah craziness and going on the today show and having that episode where he called matt lauer glib
2. I think it's due to his own arrogance. He's involved with a crazy church that he pushes off onto everyone, he thinks he's beautiful, he's opinionated and insulted a friend because she had mental problems, and his control freakery shows big time in his relationship with Katie and Suri. He's done it to himself.
3. because he is an scientologist (look at Will Smith, he wasn't dragged into it and hes a shining star now- and they're like best friends).

5. I thought he was so great in Top Gun. It was all downhill from there for poor Tommy. Oh, well, that's Hollywood. His career tanked when he got too full of himself and his toilet overflowed.
