Why is the housing authority called the projects?

i why do minorities make up more than 95% of the renters???? Its rare to see a white person living here?

1. well, they do have places for white people, it is called section 8 , and they also got white people in the Housing Authority. They call them the projects, because it is a government run project.
2. White people usually inherit land cuz you know, most of them own where they live. Its just short for Housing Projects. Minorities are usually pretty broke.
