I need information on the federal Housing authority in the 1930's?

its for a project in social studies and i cant seem to find ANYTHING BUT LOANNNNSSS!! tis quite unhelpful.

1. Was there a federal housing authority then? I did not think it was started until much later.

3. Well HUD didn't exist until 1934 and it was basically created to insure LOANS. That's pretty much all it does so you aren't going to find anything else so not sure where you're trying to go with this. Unfortunately one of their main missions is to expand home ownership and they insured a lot of bad loans; in the process contributing to the dismal situaton we now find ourselves in (note I didn't say they were the only or main cause).
