How do telemarketers get around the no call list?
I keep getting phone calls. I have been on a government no call list and I renewed that. The callers call from unlisted numbers. How can this be stopped? Do other people get these calls too? I've called the police, and they said to just hang up. I've told them I would report them, but calling from blocked numbers they know there is no way to track them down. I don't fill out any contest information, I know that gets you on all sorts of lists.

- because they suck
- you tell them to stop soliciting because you're on the no call list or you'll call the cops on them
- they call anyway.......
- Yes we do. Some disregard the do not call list , never check it and press their luck . They take it for granted that we the consumer won't turn them in .
- They are watching you
- if you fill out a questionnaire or a card for a drawing of some kind, that opens the door for them to call you again and you are back on all of the lists.
- I had a problem with a few companies. I just reminded them I'm on the list and I will be reporting them. I don't get calls anymore. Ever.
- They all work part time for Yahoo ... u no the ones who delete ur questions!!! LOL
- They're like friggin cockroaches. They never give up or die. They're just gonna keep coming back. I know how you feel cuz I'm in the same boat. >_<
- The lists are available to anyone who wants it if they are willing to pay for it. This has happened to me before as well. I also believe that sometimes, even if you're on a do-not-call list, your phone company sells the information because they aren't really obligated to let you know in the first place. It's all about the money with companies. My phone number is unlisted, private and no one but family and friends can call me, but I've had telemarketers call a few times before. It's not family or friends who are giving out my number, this I know for sure. So, there is only one other option and that is the only others who knew: the phone company.
- Believe it or not, in Canada the government sold (cheaply) the recently compiled 'Do Not Call' list to telemarketers, who promptly used that data for their call lists! Unbelievable, but sadly true. So, ironically, you may be better off OFF the list than on!
- Yes I also get a call saying "This is your second warning that your car warranty has expired..." by a number like 1 416 000 xxxx, and I get this about 2-3 times a day, even on my cell phone. How they do this is they are corporations in other cities/provinces or sometimes countries, and buy a chunk of the no-call list. They offer alot of money and simply purchase a whole bunch of numbers from that list that you subscribed to and call them non-stop. The only way to stop these is to call your phone network company and tell them to block any number that starts with 1 (416) 000, because the telemarketers are smart enough to keep calling with different last 4 digits. If you try to get your number off the list by talking to the representative from the telemarketing company, they will need your information before they could do anything. I hope this helped :)
- im not sure if your aware..that in some states you may be on the no call list...but being a mngr for acll cntr i was informed that i you for any reason for example place and order for product through any company you are automatically taken off the DNC for that company and affiliated companies as well.... furthermore if you have bought something and have send in the warranty cards for those items you are now part of the call list the call centers use.....i will say that he calling list we use at my job are scrubbed and run thru the DNC list. but it sometimes may take up to 30days for them to be removed...hoped this helped
- Kinda been wondering that myself. I keep getting 3 seperate calls in particular, none of which I have heard past about the 4 or 5 second mark, but here's a run-down: 1. Mr. DePorter, if you'd like to know how this beneficial coverage can help protect YOUR new vehicle (CLICK). ok, here's the deal. I'm an out of work truck driver. I haven't worked since last september. I don't HAVE A NEW CAR OR MOTORCYCLE. I have a 1996 Chevrolet s10 that barely moves, and my father is kind enough to let me ride his motorcycle whenever I want. So I don't know where this came from. I've only purchased one brand new (ok, 2 brand new) vehicles in my entire life. One was destroyed in an accident that was NOT my fault, the other one I sold because I was moving somewhere I didn't have a use for it (another motorcycle, and I was moving to the top of a mountain with constant snow). So I don't know what that's about. 2nd call = this call is for John DePorter.... If you are not John DePorter, please do not continue to listen any further (CLICK). I don'd know what that's about either. The 3 call is the same as the 2nd, but it's a deep male voice instead of a female. WTF? I've signed up for the no-call list TOO, and I still get harassed. In fact, now they've stopped leaving messages. I get maybe 10 or 15 calls per day from area codes I'VE NEVER EVEN SEEN, but no message. If I answer, there is no on there. "hello".... (pause"..... "helllllllllllllllllllo?" (pause).... (CLICK). So I don't know how they're doing it, but I'd say STICK IN THERE, AND IF YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE THE PHONE NUMBER, even if it's from your area code, don't answer it. My friend steve called to tell me they've moved him to hospice the other day. I didn 't answer. I got the voice mail, and I called him back. If they can't leave a damn voice-mail then I don't want anything to do with then, and if they DO leave a voice mail and they're selling something, unless it's a good-night's sleep or a massage of some type, I don't have the money for it. SORRY TO RANT. I APOLOGIZE, Just had to get that off my back. -john in heaven.... or... Iowa... Sorry, I get them confused.
