How should I buy my Guitar?

I Don't know What to do. I could get a new Guitar from my Guitar place that I practice at for $400 which I have enough but there goes most of my money and I promised all my Friends that ill get it like that Color (Fender Stratacaster, blue transparent).Or I can get one off of Cregs list new or used for a small amount of money. I am confused on what to do Sombody help me.

1. I would be VERY wary about buying any kind of musical instrument form craigslist especially a guitar. It you can see, touch, play, taste the craigslist guitar and know what you are doing then fine. Otherwise if the Guitar place guitar is from a good dealer that you trust and stands behind it then I would bite the bullet and invest in a quality instrument for sure (I've been there done that, taught guitar and still shudder at the "deals" my students brought in to show me). You never know about guitars. There's things that can be wrong with them they can even be basically unplayable so again, unless you know what you're doing, go with the quality instrument you are sure of and take care of it. Happy playing whatever you decide.
