Walmart Benefits.....?
Does anyone know what the eligibility date is for benefits such as medical coverage with Walmart? For example: are you eligible for coverage at date of hire?...after 30 days of employment?...after 60 days?...after 90 days?....Please assist. I am interested in working for them, but I also need medical coverage asap because my current coverage will expire soon and individual insurance coverage is not an option. Thanks. I worked there back in 98' PT and I was only there for a total of about 5 months and I remember having insurance. I am not sure when I was offered coverage or what type it was. I do remember that it was through Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC, so I know it was good coverage especially for only being there PT, but I am sure they have probably changed there coverage options by now. I think the job I am applying for would be FT, but I would still like to know what I could get if PT or FT.

- I believe it's 3 months, but it's hella expensive there.
- You get temporary medical upon hire if you are hired on working full time. It's called StarBridge. Then after I believe the 90 day eval, you are offered medical and dental plans of all kinds, depending on how many people you are trying to cover. I was covering myself, my husband and my daughter for 192.00 per paycheck, it's automatically deducted from it. They also offer personal injury and cancer insurance through Aflac which is good because when I was working at a different company, I had that insurance plus temporary disability through Aflac as well. I got pregnant and to go on maternity leave and Aflac paid me for it with my temporary disability. But if you are part time, you don't get the temporary medical, and you won't be eligible for benefits for a year. I worked there for 2 years the first time and 2 yeras the second time. But I quit in Feb, of 2008 so i'm not sure if the policy has changed or not.
