List Only

How do i apply for section 8 housing assistance if my city is not accepting applications for 2-5 yrs?

I have been searching online and I find other options that I have to pay for and I called my local office and they say that I cannot apply for 2 to 5 yrs is there anyway to get section 8 faster or atleast get on the waiting list?

  1. I guess you can't in your city. I would suggest moving.
  2. The waiting list is probably a mile long in your area so they stopped taking applications. Same thing happens in my area frequently. When the list opens,in a matter of days they are filled up again and close it down. Those on the waiting list are waiting years to get a place. If they aren't taking applications, there isn't anything you can do. The other options that are asking for money are scams. The only way to get on the list in through your local office.
  3. You Can Only Get On the List When It Is OPEN But if you were able to RELOCATE You Could check With The City or Town You would be Interested In The Lists are differant everywhere Good luck Hope This Gives You Something To Think About
  4. No. You have to wait for the waiting list enrollment to come around again. Sec 8 in all States is the same. I live in California. Sometimes they close enrollment for a couple of years. Check to see if your state has any programs like Many Mansions or other low income qualifying programs. Even so, their wait list times are extremely long as well.
  5. At least they are being honest with you and letting you know it might take that long before even being put on their list. As apartments open and people start moving, the list will go down. Keep calling to find out when they think it will open in your area.
