Does paypal provide any protection for craigslist purchases?
I am buying tickets through craigslist and the owner of the tickets wants me to send him 500 dollars to his paypal and then he will send the tickets. He seems legit, no instincts tell me that it is a fraud, but if it were to be, would i be protected like if it was through ebay. And if not, what website could i use to buy through him so that i am protected?

- Personally, I wouldn't buy anything on craigslist where I had to pay him beforehand. I would only deal with handing the person cash as he handed me my purchase. I have dealt a lot with both ebay & craigslist. Both are risky (more so craigslist) because there is no guarantee or protection with them. So if you aren't close enough to get the tickets yourself, IMO it isn't worth the risk.
- The thing is with Paypal..is that they are tied to ebay..so proof of payment and goods are tied together. I would not chance it on Craigslist.
- I agree with the other two posters. Do not trust anyone on Craigslist. People are starting to call it Crimeslist due to all the fraud and deception that goes on there. First there is no built in protection through paypal. They may decide to help you if you get ripped off and you can prove fraud, but what if the guy closes the account before they can investigate? Then you have nothing. Craigslist I know for sure will not help you in anyway! If you want to read some articles about all the scams on Craigslist go to this site and then decide for yourself if this transaction is legit or not http://www.craigslist.6x.to Also, paying in full upfront, sight unseen is a bad risk as far as I can tell.
