Trying to find an apartment in Orange County?

I'm trying to find a decent apartment in Orange county/Irvine area and when I look at all the reviews, I always find at least 2 or 3 complaints having to do with rats. Is it that much of a hassle to find a place rat free in Orange county? Are these people just mad at the management or is this a real problem?

1. You should expect to pay 1200 or more for a decent one bedroom. Every place is going to have some disgruntled tenants, you really need to go out there yourself, and walk around and talk to people. If So and So apartment has 100 units and 98 of them are filled with Happy people, you can bet the 2 who are most unhappy will be the ones telling horror stories on the web.
