Dental assistant questions?

How many years of college do I need to get a degree in dental assisting? Do I need to go to a university for it or can I go to someplace like Western Career college for it? Are there any required classes I need to take in high school for it? I've also heard that depending on where you study dental assisting, you'll just get a degree but not take a state test, & that taking the state test for it is vital. Is this true?

1. A dental assistant assists a dentist, sterilizes instruments, and takes xrays of teeth. Go to a community college that teaches it. It is a 1 year certificate (not a degree) program. Then you can take a national written test to become certified (dentists like to hire certified assistants).
