Is it possible to sue the county housing authority for evicting you for having a messy house?

Public Comments

  1. excluding egregious behavior, all municipal- ities are exempt from law suits. i am guessing you are renting a city owned home. If not, who is suing you and who owns the house? I am guessing you are in the UK.
  2. It is the housing authorities job to make sure their properties are kept livable and not a hazard to yourself or other tenants. Sounds like you were really quite messy and they had every right to evict you.
  3. no they can evict you for being a mess. A landlord can do the same also. If they evicted you I assume it had to be trashed which is a health and safety hazard. This could also affect those living near you since you could get cockroaches and other bugs that could go into other homes. Fact of the matter, quit being a pig and clean up!
  4. You can sue for anything you want, but whether you can prevail is the bigger issue. It is highly unlikely you will win, housing authorities have a tight criteria of inspections and stipulations before they start eviction. If you were indeed evicted, I am certain they have all the necessary evidence to support the eviction.
  5. No, they gave you 30 days to get the place into a condition where you were not endangering the public health. They are legally bond to protect the public safety from anyone breeding vermon or causing a serious fire hazard.
