Loss prevention agent career?

Im thinking about becoming a loss prevention agent. There is a western career college by me that has classes on this, so im wondering do i like take classes on this and get some kind of certificate, then im ready to go? Or do i need additional college or anything? And also im not really physically fit, would that be a problem or stop me from becoming a loss prevention agent?

  1. you do not need to go to college for this. go apply for a store security loss prevention job at penney's sears, macy's etc. most often they will train you. yes, you do have to be somewhat physically fit
  2. You don't need classes on loss prevention. Most retail stores will expect to take you onboard and train you their way. No offense, but it's not exactly a very high-thinking job, and so that's why college is not needed for it. As for being physically fit, yes, they will most definitely look at you and judge your fitness. They will probably not tell you that you're not being hired due to your lack of fitness (for legal reasons), but if they don't call you after the interview, that's probably one of the reasons why. You should get into shape and get a job in a retail store as a regular clerk or salesperson if they don't hire you for loss prevention. Once you have your foot in the door, you will be in a better position to apply for a loss prevention job once one opens up. Good luck!
