- It sounds like a scam if he is offering too much for your computer...just pass on this one.
- PayPal is not advisable.. My husband's credit card no was hacked and he is now faced with a huge bill resulting from an anonymous transaction through paypal.. Tell him that you are not willing through paypal.. If he is willing to transact through any other medium you might consider... Good Luck and Be SafE!
- Sounds like a scam. A lot of fraudsters like using the US postal system because its reliable but it can also be manipulated for corrupt activities like fake addresses and the likes. It smells like a scam. And if they ask you for your account number or to send some unusually large sum of money then that is indeed a scam. If I were you I would ignore this one or report it. Fraudsters rely on greed to make their plan work. In your case the "wooping $800". For all you know once u send the laptop to him he is going to disappear and the 800 could be a fake bank account which is going to bounce once you try to cash the check. I dont trust craigs list. Too many shoddy characters there,,,,sell your laptop on ebay where things are reliable and verified. Personally i prefere to sell my old gadgets the old fashioned way through the local papers and stuff or to friends and relatives. This way you wont get scammed. Cyber transactions can be manipulated in soo many ways by tech-savy thieves.
