what is the process to apply for employment with the Usps in California?

I have already created a profile but it says something about scheduling an exam, though I can't do it until I get a confirmation I was wondering how long this takes? Anybody can help?

1. What position are you applying for? I applied online in 2/2009 for city carrier TE and rec'd an email to come in for an interview in 4/2009...Never took the test...I went in for an interview on Tuesday and then when I got home I had another email asking me to fill out the background form and to fax it to another office and then on Thursday I rec'd another email asking me to come in for pre employment process...So I'll be doing that on Monday...Never toke a test...but I applied for city carrier TE...I get no benefits...and only partime hours! I'm just excited to get my foot in the door...I'm in California too...
