What safety precautions should I use with craigslist?

I'm about to buy a furniture set off of craigslist, I've sent many emails back and forth with what appears to be a very sweet, nice person. We are set to do this transaction on Saturday but after all the recent media attention with craigslist I was wondering, what kind of safety precaution's should I use?

1. I'd worry only if you've offered the person "that personal touch" to go along with the furniture set. Otherwise, it's the same as it's always been.
2. Just use common sense. Do not go to this persons home alone. Take a brother, boyfriend or your Dad with you. Do not invite that person into your home when you are alone. Do not accept a check. Most people are just fine, but these simple cautions will prevent problems.
