What is the best place to search for cheap apartments in New York City?

New York Times Real Estate section? Craigslist? Individual brokers? What are the pros and cons?

  1. i would recomend the garbage can on poplar and vincient st. ave you could come room mate it with me
  2. I would suggest http://apartments.cazoodle.com to help with that apartment search. We have 171,958 listings in NYC, one of them should be able to fit your needs. Check it out in detail at the link below.
  3. The cheap apartments are near the Unicorn farm on W. 38th Street. Just down the block from Leprechaun & Fairy Bank (which, conveniently, has no ATM fees). Despite what it sounds like, it's kind of a seedy neighborhood. But don't worry, all the hookers have hearts of gold.
  4. I know from experience that those apts.com websites seem to be the most expensive. I've had luck with craigslist, sunday newspaper and driving around (or walking in your case) looking for "for rent" signs.
