Should I give my Credit Card info to an Apartment Building in another city to reserve an Apartment?

They have a reputable looking website, the place does exist, they've got reviews on several different websites and an apartment locator suggested them as well. Not sure the phone number connects to the place but it's the same phone # I see on all the websites.... Anyone done something like this? This is the company: http://www.innapts.com/ Thanks.

  1. No, if at all give them a check, or something drawn up at a bank that you can stop payment on. My bank once told me that if you give your number out, you are responsible for all charges! I used my card once at a furniture store with no refunds. The company was aware they did not have the furniture in stock but took pymt because they knew I could not return it , nor buy from their competitor (why would I be responsible for knowing what they have in stock) proceed to take my pymt. I stopped payment, but due to it being electronic it was too fast! I still got charged 30% re stocking fee, which they were allowed to recover. Really, I ended up paying them since it was an electronically processed payment. Use a check, its slower, it can be cancelled, voided, it is not releasing pymt at any time only for a specific time and amount, it serves as a written contract between you and the company, a credit card does not , it is open for unlimited usage, and beacsue its personal and you gave it, they could charge for anything!
