okay, so I have been unemployed since Nov, 2008. Not from lack of trying but because Oregon has I think the highest or one of the top highest unemployment rates right now. So I submitted an application to the Sears by my house because they had a job posting on a job search site. I filled out my basic resume info, did their "personality assessment" (which is BS anyway because EVERYONE knows how to put down what they want to hear) and was shocked and happy to see that it was offering ME an OPPORTUNITY to schedule my own interview!!! WOOHOO!!! Well.. now I am wondering about that whole thing because I have found a pretty lengthy discussion on indeed.com and various other sites about individuals who went through the same thing and found out it was basically a scam! They show up and no one knows anything, some even got ignored. Now I am really worried because one of the only options it gave me was for Sunday May 31st at 3:30 pm. An interview on a Sunday at 3:30 with someone in HR?!?! I already know I will call the prior thurs or fri, but has anyone else had this experience? Did you find it was a waste of time? or did your interview time actually hold? Also, what should I be prepared for? some people say no drug test, some people say they have you take one on the spot (should I have a full bladder?! LOL) and some say you have a couple days to go take it. I would find it hard to believe they piss test for a cashier position in Oregon, I swear EVERYONE here smokes weed. Its nuts. They would never hire anyone!! Anyway, what was your interview experience or LACK of interview experience? Thanks! got a "confirm" of my interview in my inbox, for those that the interview never happened, was this part of your disappointment as well? umm ok.. your answer had absolutely nothing to do with what I was asking. I wasn't asking if I should go. Why do you people get on here and just type a bunch of mumbo jumbo? I was asking if anyone else more recently showed up to their interview to find no one know they were coming and got turned away. Even though I am unemployed I would rather go submit apps and resumes to other stores in the mall during that hour than sit there for an hour and find out no one has time for me even though they scheduled a time. Makes more sense to me. So unless you have first hand knowledge of what I am asking, please dont respond with an answer to try and make yourself look smart. thought I would update you all. Sears HR called me yesterday while I was out at a family function (Sat), saying they needed to ask me some questions before they lock in my interview. I called back and got some girl in HR, she proceeded to put me on hold for 12 mins while she got my application, she then after the long wait got back on the phone with a standard greeting like the phone started ringing, once again I was greeted with "hello, this is ____ with sears HR" like she completely forgot about me on there. Then she goes "ooooh gosh I am so sorry, hang on while I get your app". She then proceeded after 5 more mins or putting me hold came back and I felt was trying to discourage me from locking in my interview. "Iam so sorry, the position you applied for is no longer available, but we possible have a part time position of 10 hours a week, but no guarantee of hours" I told her her I was not interested in working for free. 10 hours? by the time you factor gas and taxes you make nothing
