we bought a ic902 from a freind.sprint says we can't use it because there is a balance due on the old number.?

we bought an ic902 from criags list.when we tried to transfer our sprint number to the phone.sprint said no because of a past due amount from proir owner.we are stuck with a phone now.can anyone help us we cant' change sim card.the phone works great.it's only a month old.please somebody help sprint store says we can't use the phone untill old bill is paid is there a way around this?

1. This is why you never want to buy a used phone, especially a used phone from Craig's list. You have been ripped off by a crook. Sue the seller for fraud.
2. Change SIM card?
