how do I become a Disc Jockey?

I've always wanted to be a DJ, but where do I start? what equipment do I use? where do I learn? I already have a ton of vinyl. where do I work? Tips? Hints? Help?

1. Turntables...crossfader....and a recorder of some sort to record your mixes....thats about it to start....and speakers of course.
