I sliced my finger with a knife on accident?

i was at the hospital today with my friend francesco, he had a swiss army knife and i brought a grapefruit at the cafe there when we got out i sliced the grapefruit with the knife and accidently sliced my finger and blood poured out i dint go in to get it bandaged because i felt so stupid for what i did . i cleaned it up at my house and stopped the bleeding but if i move my thumb it bleeds. is there a remedy to stop the bleeding?
