Questions about Section 8 housing in California?

Im having some personal problems at home and my boyfriend and i just had a son. We are a low income family and need a place to live. Ive been looking into Section 8 housing but can't get any information at the moment because i don't have a phone available to me at the moment. If I were to apply how long is the waiting list? 1. Most of the waiting lists are from 2 to 5 years. Some exceed 5 years and have closed the lists to new applications all together. It really depends on what counties you and your significant other live and work in now (you can apply in 2 counties, where you live and where you work). The only real requirement is low income, but it has to be actual income. you can not be low income because you have planted yourself on the couch. Seniors and the disabled take precedence over families. If you feel comfortable you can email me your city and I can tell you exactly where you need to go to apply. I may even know if the list is open or not.
