how long do you think this car will last?

http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/1204958643.html i called the guy and he said it needs some electrical work on the computer board or something like that. he also said there is a problem with the window motor on the drivers side. its a turbo diesel so does that mean it will last longer than a regular beetle? i've heard the regular beetles can get up to 400k miles on them.

  1. You go getting into something that needs electrical work and it can end up costing you a bundle of money. Be cautious.
  2. As soon as the words electrical problem are heard consider a different car. A electrical or wiring problem can be a serious problem leading to more problems and lots of money to fix.
  3. Prepare to get looks of disgust from your mates. The New Beetle is one of the most feminine cars you could possibly get. It even has a flower vase next to the steering wheel. And the "electrical work" also makes this a no-go. Get an old-skool Beetle. Get some work done on that flat-4 and it'll not only last longer than that NB, it'll also be quicker.
  4. Actually, according to consumer reports, the "new" beetles get below average reliability, and are listed as "used cars to avoid". They have major engine issues, fuel system, and electrical issues.
