Can I transfer my cellphone service to someone?

I have a 2 year contract with Sprint which has horrible reception in Houston area. I just want to get rid of it. Its been abt 6 months I am on contract. Can I sell or transfer my contract to someone else and get a new connection from some other service provider. wouldn't there be someone in this world to take the connection on eBay or Craigslist. what do you say?

  2. I know you can unlock cell phones for about 20 dollars. Yeah, Sprint sucks around Houston.
  3. Nope, tried that! They will still hold you responsible for the bills. They have your Social Security number, which also means not only are you responsible, but if you or the next person you give it to doesn't pay the bill--it goes on your credit.
  4. mmm it depends on the agreement u signed with them...u have to read ur contract with them ..if there´s nothing on that issue in it ( no clausule or something ) then u should call and ask them.I don´t think it´s a big issue though...what counts for them is that they don´t loose a costumer ..so if u replace U then no worries I guess
  5. Yes, in most cases you can perform a transfer of service in which the financial responsibility for your account is transferred out of your name and into someone else's. However, I don't see why someone would want to take over your contract when they could simply start service from scratch without having to go through the hassle of a transfer (both you and the other party will have to be on the phone while the transfer is being completed.) Would you really want to share private information with a stranger? Also, the person whom you transfer the account to must pass a credit check in order for them to take on your contract. During the time it takes for this random person to pass a credit check to become the account holder of your account, they could open their own account and bypass all of the trouble. Most carriers require you to be in your contract for a certain amount of time before you are eligible to transfer your service to someone else. With AT&T, the fee to transfer service is $18 per line but it may be different with Sprint. Keep in mind Sprint may renew the contract for a period of time after the transfer is completed.
  6. You cannot SELL anything. You can give it away for free, of course you have to make SURE they call the company and everything. In fact, you have to be there, to speak to the company. Craigslist is good, Kijiji, eBay (hmm, not so much). THere is also a website that deal specifically with this - transferring cotracts. Do a search on Google, I forget the URL.
