How do the democrats feel about Bill Clintons affordable housing act now?

with all the ARM's and foreclosures? Affordable housing for everyone! How do you think that worked out? for the liberals who are attacking me, you're missing the point. bill clinton ALLOWED the banks to do this by not REGULATING them. For a party who touts REGULATIONS, I don't hear anyone being upset about THAT. In addition to the BANKS and the Clinton admin being at fault, YES I do blame the people who signed mortgages they right well KNEW they couldn't afford.

  1. DemocRATS have no feelings.
  2. Affordable Housing does not equal ARMS - that was the idea of greedy mortgage brokers. Affordable Housing does not equal subprime mortgages being bundled and sold as "securities" - which was actually the catalyst for the economic meltdown. This was the brainchild of the UNREGULATED Wall Street mega - CEOs. Affordable Housing is as American as apple pie - you gonna sit right there and tell me it's not? That people who work hard shouldn't be able to buy a house for less than a preposterous amount of money? You know anything about the "housing bubble" which led up to all the foreclosures? Hm? Do you? The real estate market in this country went berserk. I saw it here, where I live. GREED and speculation and people buying up houses left and right, just to try to turn around and make a big, quick profit. GREED, pal.
  3. so you are blaming the fpreclosure crisis on minorities or poor people??? lol what about the people that made all the billions of dollars and riches and drove banks into receivership? UNBELIEVABLE !!!!
  4. I think a little more research on your part about exactly what the end of redlining was, and how it was abused to turn into a free for all. It was never meant to make Mc Mansions in the suburbs available to all, but that's how it was used. Its been years since that law took effect, under a Republican congress, and then after Bill left, the entire Republican government, from its House to its Senate to the White House, didn't see fit to tune that law up. Doesn't it make you wonder, why, if it was so bad, the Republicans did''t do what they did to so many things Bill had passed? Or maybe they were just enjoying all that abuse of the meaning of the law so that bankers more or less resembled Las Vegas gamblers? No where did it say you have to offer no income verification, or teaser rates that went up astronomically, or selling those mortgages in bundles so that they couldn't be rewritten because they now belonged to many different countries. How they could confuse that with writing mortgages in low income areas, so that a nurse could buy a home near where she worked is beyond me. I've bought and sold homes before and I can tell you that you had to show the ability to pay or they wouldn't write the mortgage. Some people seem to think that the customers waltzed in and told the banks what they wanted and it was done according to the wishes of the customer. That's not at all true, in the cases of borderline purchasers the banks engaged in 'creative financing' telling the customers that they could always refinance when the terms changed. They lied and they were far more sophisticated than the average buyer. As has been seen the banks were more than aware of the fact they were taking advantage of buyers and they didn't care at all what happened to they buyers of the homes or mortgages once they left the bank. Many of them are in jail for fraud now.
  5. Barney (bonesmoker) Frank and Chris Dodd!
  6. The democrats want power, clinton is a democrat, whatever he did or does is okay unless it causes enough public reaction to weaken democrat control of the country. At the moment, the public seems almost as ignorant as the government of clinton's politically based support of the housing fiasco. .
