This is basically a summary..just notes...but a sample of story... DJ Lavell Jones was born in St.Louis, MO...but spent part of his childhood in Japan where his father was serving with the US Air Force. At age 2, Jones developed a strange habit by standing in front of a steroe. He remembers hearing music coming from the speakers while he was still in his crib..so one day, he got out and just stood in front of the steroe. That was when he found his connection with music. He grew up loving music.... He began collecting records at age 5, and bought his first record player at age 10. He grew up listening to Sam Cooke, BB King, James Brown, and Otis Redding. At this time, that's when he began to know the true meaning of soul music...."I would listen to these cats just singing and moaning, and I could kind of feel their emotions" he said. "Soul music is real. You don't just hear it, you feel it. That's why they call it soul music, because it touches your soul" Lavell didnt intend to be a deejay (he wanted to be a drummer)...While attending college, he went to school to be a music teacher while working at a local diner late night. After a troubled relationship with a music proffessor, Lavell had thoughts of dropping out of college, working the diner full time. It wasnt until one morning on his way to class, he noticed a radio station on campus. He decided to go in and check it out (ditching class)....after hanging around and watching a deejay perform, that's when he realized he wanted to do radio. After interning for a few months, he finally took the place of an old deejay who didnt show up. He did the college radio thing but there was this local station he wanted to work for. He sent his demos in and got rejected 3 or 4 times before they hired him...... Ok...how was it? Was it good?
