How to increase my employment possibility in Pharmaceutical Sales?

Hi, I am a Singaporean, degree in Finance & marketing with working experience of 12, about 6 years in Education Sales career. I am doing a career change now and interested to start a long term career in Pharmaceutical Sales. How may I increase my possibility of employment in that area? Is there any short courses or seminars that you can advise me to participate to increase my employment possibility in Singapore?

  1. I would visit doctors offices or hospitals in your area and ask them to see the business cards of the medical device sales reps and pharmaceutical sales reps who call on them. Then contact the reps to express your interest and see if their company has room for a ride-along or for you to speak more with the hiring manager. This shows a lot of initiative and will get you further than you may think. Make a brag book and really dive into anything you can express in numbers (sales, sales growth, etc.) even if you didn't receive an award for it. Network with everyone you know and get your resume on the top medical industry job boards, but don't waste your money paying for any of them. Those that charge are scams and don't even let you upload your resume for recruiters to find you. Use the ones that make their money off advertising and by other means on a much higher level. The same goes for recruiters - don't pay them ever!
