Do apartments that only allow cats have to let you get one for therapy reasons?

My apartment complex only allows cats, but if I got a dog for therapy reasons, would they have to let me keep it? Also, I HATE cats. I am not going to get one. And I want to get a puppy. So it wouldn't be trained. But I have MDD (major depressive disorder) and I'm happier around puppies and I am way less likely to hurt myself if I am aorpund one or have one

  1. I don't know check with your supers attitude about it.
  2. You have signed the contract agreeing that you will only get a cat what they will do is evict you for breaking the contract. Anyway cats are great therapy - get a breed that grows quite large - like the Main C oon cat they grow to the size of a small terrier. Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maine_Coon
  3. If you have a Dr.s letter stating that you are disabled (Chronic Depression or Mood Disorder) and that the dog(s) are in fact therapeutic animals. They are technically SERVICE ANIMALS and no landlord can refuse to rent to you thanks to the Americans with Disabilities act. If one does contact a lawyer. But you need to be able to prove it is because of the dog.
