Moving To New York CITY!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!?

I am 25 year old single mother relocating from Orlando to New York City. I will be xfering my job up there, I also have an internship and a better opportunity to become a publicist or work in public relations. There are so many reasons why NYC would not only be better for me and my career, but for my daughter being closer to her father. I am not only bored with Orlando, but i think Orlando is making me lazy and i'm starting to slip into a state of nothingness, where all i do is work and come home. I love the diverse culture of NYC, the only thing i am a little weary about is the cost of living. Where can i find a reasonably price apartment to rent. (Not Craigslist- has too many scam artist claiming to have CENTRAL PARK apartments for 700 a month.) I have a car also. Has anybody made a transition from somewhere rural to the big city? What steps should i take?

  1. Would you be willing to live in another borough and take the commute to Manhattan everyday? I live in Brooklyn, and it's really easy to go to there, but some people don't want to do that. Brooklyn has the same business, and culture- even more culture than Manhattan. Spring Creek Gardens-- 902 Drew St, Bklyn-- 1 BR 1 BA is $811. (718) 303-2417. You have a daughter, so you might not want 1 BR. Of course, 2 bedrooms is always going to be more. I'm not sure what your budget is. Waterside Plaza-- 30 Waterside Plaza Pl, Man.-- 2 BR 1 BA is $3,450. (888) 465-4910. I think your best bet would to go to mynewplace.com, and call everyone. The economy is bad, so people are usually willing to decrease a little. And if it says "please call," call! You might be able to get 2 bedrooms for a good price. On mynewplace.com, however, there's an apartment for rent on Jamaica Street- DON'T live there, it has a lot of crime. Another great idea is to actually go to NYC and look around at apartments in person, ask if they have any apartments available, and try to haggle.
