Walmart Employment?

I've applied several times at the three Walmarts in our town, but I've never been called. Is there possibly something I'm answering wrong when I'm filling out the applications? The application is done on a computer there at the store, and you don't actually get to see anyone unless you are called in for an interview.

  1. I don't know.. that is difficult since I am not looking at the application but some people who get these applications don't really care anyway. I would recommend that when you go there you look neat in appearance. Always call and ask for the human resource department or hiring department. They may be better to answer that for you...
  2. My brother in law flunked the test like 3 times. I dont know if department stores are the same as the warehouses but they ask questions like "If you were to see an employee smoke weed you would tell the manager' then youd pick the answer that is like A. strongly agree B disagree. But anyway i think there is tricky questions, if he failed it 3 times. And at the warehouse you have to wait 6mths before reapplying if you failed the test.
  3. Are you being persistant. You have to constantly bug them. Go to Walmart, find a manager and have him research your application and let him know how many times you attempted to obtain employment with his company. He will then know that your really want to work and he may hire you or at least allow you an interview.
  4. i agree that you need to go in person and talk to the manager. dress nice and be polite so he know's you're really interested in the job. thank him for his time and tell him you're hopeing to hear from him soon.
  5. Wal-Mart is the last (and worst) place you can go for employment. Even if its only for part-time (and you're a student), I strongly recommend that you avoid Wal-Mart at all costs. The pay is terrible, the work load is unreasonable, and the benefits are un-affordable. If its a retail job you're looking for, go for Macy's or Home Depot, as I understand they have worker's unions and better pay, although it's still a lot of work. Check out www.wakeupwalmart.com for more info about Wal-Mart's practices domestically and internationally.
  6. Daisy, The first question would be if they are actually hiring at the times you applied and for the positions you applied for. If not, your app will sit in a pile with the rest of the unneeded applications until it's time for them to hire for those positions, and the chances are that the newer ones will get the first shot. Pretty much every time I go into a Walmart, I see someone on the application computer, so I would imagine that they could have well over 50 applicants for each position. I'd suggest calling the store to see what positions they are currently hiring for, and if you are qualified for them. Then if you are, ask them when would be a good time for you to come in, go through the application process and interview.
  7. I have ALWAYS (sorry bout the Caps) Insisted on being Interviewed by a Human Being, no matter where I was applying for work. I'd say it worked 8 out of 10 times. The two times it didn't, I would just say to Myself, " Well if they can't take the time out of their (Imagined) "Busy Day" to interview Me, I don't want to waste My Valuable time Applying for a J.O.B. with them. The best J.O.B. I ever had, was Protecting the Free Citizens of the Word in maintaining / keeping their Freedom. That was in the Military Service. At first it was a Tremendous loss of Pay, but as the years went by & I was promoted to a Higher Rank, I was seen as A Hero to some, & A Demon to others. But Protecting My Family from Harm & keeping their Freedom Safe, was the Most Rewarding of All to Me. Good Luck to you
