Is it ok to listen to rap music while pregnant?
Ya'll please dont laugh at my crazy question bc i really want to know. Im 23 weeks pregnant and im a Disc Jockey. Im still doing parties i just have someone help load and unload my equipment for me. Alot of times I have to play rap music at my gigs which doesnt bother me a bit bc i love rap! The only problem is I know theres alot of cursing in the songs and i was wondering if that would have an affect on my unborn child. They always say its good to listen to classical music while pregnant but im more of a hip hop type of momma...lol Now when my child is born im not gonna be playing rap and bad music around him but while hes inside me is that type of music ok to listen to? When im in my car i still like to bump my rap, should i stop for the time being? my boyfriend is more of a country and rock type person so our son is definitely gonna be a music lover of all kinds...lol

- Are you really THAT dumb?
- If it's loud it can be bad. Not kidding.
- I don't see anything wrong with it...I listened to it with both my children and neither of them grew up (one is 19 and the other 6) using the 'bad' words in the songs or thinking they were thugs! =)
- Surround you child with all the music you can. Don't worry about the words yet, just keep that child around music. It is a blessing for me to have grown up around it so much, I wish the same for your child.
- I have also heard this although not sure if its a myth or what. In all honesty your child will not be born f-ing and blinding from the off so I would say your ok. But id consult someone who knows something about child psychology and how they think. as i have heard if the parents swear when the child is in the mother then thats what the chiild will be like. I dunno how much the unborn child would take in of the language being born around, but they do not start speaking straight away so if you clean up the music a bit when born id say youll be ok.
- I'm taking a human development class right now and we had just gone through the unborn baby section. It won't really have any bad or negative effects on the baby. The baby will just have a little preference for the upbeat and fast rhythms of rap and hip hop if anything. It's good to talk to the baby and read to the baby though so the baby will know your voice. If all the baby hears is rap 24/7 then he/she will get accustomed to that tone / pitch and just have a preference for it.
- Very loud music will be detrimental to your baby's hearing. An unborn baby's hearing is still developing and is more easily damaged. You should avoid very loud music and sounds. However, playing different kinds of music for your child while in the womb is supposed to be good for the child's development. I would not suggest any type of "unkind music" i.e. rap, acid rock, heavy metal etc. Slower more soothing music such as classical is recommended. Ask your OB/GYN about this issue.
- Sure, I don't see why not but maybe you shouldn't listen to the really hardcore stuff e.g. violent rap & rap with a lot of cussing since unborn babies can hear whats going on around them while they in their mother, you don't want your babies 1st words to be "where's my mothaf****** cash at" lol.
- Only if you want your child to hear such illiterate morons. Your child might start using "ebonics" at young age too. Please don't scar your child for life this early!
- No..It's fine. Me and my wife played rap the whole time she was Pregnant with all three kids of ours, And they turned out fine. And play it when the born, It's all about how you raise your kids. The things they hear in rap music they will be forced to hear and learn first hand once they get out in the world. i rather my kids learn ahead of time, hear it and ask me questions before they get out there. Rap music is like ah book of life, Even if it's harsh, because life is harsh outside that safe heaven called home,a nd sometimes home ant even nice. I have ah friend that played classical music her whole pregnancy, and her kid came out bad as hell, still is!....and my kids or so sweet and well mannered. They understand right from wrong at ah young age. I told her it's because i played N.W.A. the whole nine months!..lol, they understood life before they where born.
- I won't give this question too much energy because it's silly, but yes its perfectly safe to listen to Rap while pregnant. *Sighs*
- ok not to be mean.................. but R U SERIOUS???? any thing thats too loud could disturb ur baby but as far long term perm. affects???? hip hop/rap..... im sure is not gonna affect the baby in ur tummy.... if u r that concerned and still wanna listen to it get the clean version.... but u should know that cuz ur a dj.......
- well docs say that u can stimulate ur babies minds by reading to em and playin certain music and that they are much smarter and catch things quicker so depending on how u want them to b stimulated u should decide wat u want them 2 hear
- I gave you a star because I always find it interesting when a parent doesn't want their child involved in something that they do themselves. (And I realize that it's your job.) I wish the best for your baby and as it was said earlier, keeping the volume down, if possible, probably wouldn't hurt.
- dont make it too loud. stop being a loser. you have an unborn child in your "uterus" who didnt ask to be born and you gonna damage his ears before he enters this cold world ? surround him with nice music. it could be rap, but not hardcore with curse words. more like a tribe called quest, chill hip hop is better
- yeah but dont listen stuff like take yo clothes so the sex gets betta listen to stuff like Stronger-Kanye
- that is a stupied question of cours not
- Personally don't think it would matter about the music you listen to, it has to do more with the process of the raising of your children once they have come to know more of the meaning of the music,Meaning: the reality of what the music means, as far as the Baby goes it will pick up on the rythym of the music not the wording. It would be good for him to learn the different variations of music and looks like your doing that already, it will be along time before he learns what music is but he can understand the tones, which is good for him.
