How long does it take a Craigslist ad to post?

I just posted something on Craigslist.org, filled out my description, put in my pictures, accepted the terms of use, and went to my email to activate the ad. So when I went into Craigslist as an anonymous user, my ad didn't show up. Does it just take a long time to show, or did I do something wrong. I've sold things before and I don't know how the buying people even found my ads. I can't find any of them on my own just by searching the site.

1. it can take up to a week but usually it takes 3 days for me im not really 47
2. You post it, then they send you an email back with a link to edit it, post it, and delete it. Once you post it, it may take a little bit to show up. I remember one time it took 24 hours for mine to show up.. but if you didn't post it throught the email they sent you, then it wont show up. xx Sarah
3. It tends to post ads quite soon after (no more than 10 minutes for me). Maybe something went wrong. Try again or look in "my account" see if the one you posted is posted and active.
4. when you post an ad, you get an email to verify that you're posting from a valid email address. you click on the link in the email and it takes you back to craigslist where you hit the "publish" button. the ad will show up within 15 minutes.
