my computer is giving me fits?
my comp is acting up. when i tried to go to the system restore it says my system restore has been turned off by group policy. i do not know what that means or how to fix it. also when i try to go to certain pages it redirects me to strange pages like apartment finders and stuff. if someone could tell e how i might fix it i would appreciate it. thank you

- if you got a cd with your computer put it in and restart ur computer and then you should be able to re do your computer to make it like how you got it
- Heres how you fix your first problem: hit start, hit run (or just type it in the search box if you have vista) type in gpedit.msc inside of the group policy editor, navigate to computer configuration > administrative template > system > system restore disable the "turn off system restore" by double clicking it and choosing disabled or not configured. Your second problem is related to adware. Your computer is infected. You need to run a scan to identify and delete such adware. I suggest two programs for that: Lavasoft Ad-aware, and Spybot Search and Destroy. Both have free versions.
- Doing what Jeff said would work if you have a restore CD for your computer, but you would lose anything and everything you have stored on the computer (pictures music videos personal documents or financial information etc...) I'd suggest starting the computer in "Safe Mode With Networking" and go online and see if you can go to the pages you want (in safe mode the screen resolution will be different and everything will probably look big and wierd), don't let it worry you if things work properly but just look different. Then download, install, update and run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Perform Full Scan. There's a good chance that will fix it. I'd suggest getting some form of protection on that computer once it's gone. Avast is a good free anti-virus program which I use myself. Scanning regularly with Malwarebytes is another good measure to help protect yourself from the scumware writers.
