Why the hell are Americans loving socialist ideals?

We are a Federal Constitutional Republic. Our fore fathers made us the greatest country in the world. Millions of people immigrate here illegally and risk death to get the freedom we have and take for granted. If this system is so bad, why don't the socialistic people in America live in the country's that they appraise. I really want you to live there and understand what you take for granted. There is so much freedom here, you can become anyone. The immigrants come here for freedom not hand outs and free health care or free welfare or free government housing or free medicaid. I really wish the Americans that are my neighbors and friends drop the socialistic ideas, really it failed many times. Hitler was a socialist party in the democracy of Germany then become a Fascist. America can do the same thing, I don't want to repeat History. PLEASE know your history before you rant and tell me these ideas are not socialistic. Socialism is having the government "equally distribute" wealth, that's government expansion, the fore fathers fought a big government, we are forgetting our morals. The Preamble says "Promote the General Welfare" This health care reform is ENFORCEMENT not Promotional, since Promotional would encourage we do, not enforce us to do so. I wish you Americans that disagree knew what our fore fathers stood for. Their stance is the reason America is the best country in the world. If we stray from that we become poor and less efficient. Not so looney afterall: No my parents never used any social programs they did this thing called working. Sakata Gintoki: Wow you're ignorant, you can't make a business off of private ownership of streets. people would still use them regardless. Public Schools suck vs Private. That's why Public Schools in America have drop out ratings of 50%. It is abused. Everything the government ran sucks, Social Security is pathetic since people past 65 still work. If you can't make it in the private sector it should be public, like police officers, like fire fighters. The preamble says "Provide for the common defense" Read the preamble before you act like a little fascist.

Public Comments

  1. Does it matter
  2. Just wondering if you or your parents have cashed any Social Security checks... If yes, then you might want to pipe down a bit... And what Sakata states below... Guess what Frank, I don't believe you! And if your parents rejected their social security at retirement, after contributing to it all their working lives, well, that just doesn't seem too bright...
  3. this American is not loving it.
  4. By your rationale, Public Schools, roads and the police department are evil socialistic systems that need to be destroyed, and we should actually have a free market police force.. perhaps with coverage options. Regardless. It's silly. The British nationalized East India ages before the Communist Manifesto was written. Socialism predates communism, and America developed the envy of the world with its public education system of its time--a socialist system. edit: Your reaction to an intelligible, sensible critique of your paradigm is charmingly fitting. It's hilarious that the federal government's common defense now applies to public schools, roads, and the police department--and not just the military. The states now have no responsibilities.
  5. Simple, it allows people to be lazy. But in the end, we'll be SO lazy, they'll have to FORCE us to work to pay for everything anyway, i.e. slavery!!!
  6. RW spin. Think a little for yourself, too.
  7. So your neighbours and friends support Hitlerian ideas???! what a peculiar and creepy world view you have.
  8. We're not a Federal Constitutional Republic. We're a democracy. I have taught History for 37 years.
  9. First of all letting people starve and die in the streets is in no way promoting the general welfare. And Socialism is a great thing that builds community values in America making us realize that we are all in this together and that we need to learn to shut our opinionated mouths once in a while in the name of cooperation. Socialism gives you what you want for free because those with the ability to, owe a bit to the people they lord over and need to give them health care. Please close your upper middle class mouth before you start bashing the system that helps the downtrodden working class. You would rather have all the poor starve and die. Your opinion is no longer valid because that is a completely inhuman stance you take
  10. Unfettered capitalism is precisely what put this economy where it is. And I really have a hard time understanding why it is that people like you are unwilling (or incapable) of admitting the reality that America has had democratic socialistic tenets woven into this society since the Great Depression. Thank God! It is what has made us great.
  11. Tyranny of the ignorant pathetic and insecure. Nietzsche breaks all this down. So Does Ayn Rand.
  12. Unfortunately the public schools have done a great job of indoctrination and a poor job of education. Most kids come out of school so far to the left but they think they are open minded centrists. Ask anyone from Eastern Europe who has lived under socialism. They understand what evils are happening in this country.....they have lived it! ...and the other idiots....governmnet regulated capitalism is what put us in the position we are in! ....and for all of you idiots above that think they know what socialism is read more. Taxation for the COMMON good is acceptable....taxation for redistribution is socialism!
  13. It was predicted that in a democracy the people will vote themselves a portion of the treasury until the treasury is depleted. Prophecy fulfilled, thank you President Obamas, Nancy Pelosi, Reid and all the voters who want something for nothing. You have voted your freedoms away for what?
  14. Me thinks Golfer is a sage, on this at least.
  15. Based on what you wrote, I guess it's a good thing that Obama and the Democrats do NOT want "socialism". The health care proposal does not require everyone get "government run" health care. It simply offers a government-backed *option* for those who can't afford private insurance. Competition will force the private insurers to offer a better product. And no where in our Constitution (which you continue to spout) does it say that "capitalism" is the official economic model of the country. The Constitution allows for the people to decide; and if enough people decide they want "socialism" and elect politicians to institute that, then "socialism" would be equally Constitutional. Your logic completely fails.
  16. I've spent time in Canada, Germany and Norway, and really they aren't terrible places to live (plenty of freedom as well). The US has had a long history of social welfare programs since the Progressive Era and the New Deal without becoming a fascist state.
  17. Nice rant.
