Can we stop government expansion?
I am sick and tired of socialists, I won't call them liberals, I call them socialists. Who demand the government handle everything. The private sectors that failed, always have due to government insight/regulation. Health Care wasn't a free market due to medicare/medicaid Medicare - Free for Elderly Medicaid - Free for the Poor Failed Banking Industry was due to the CRA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_Reinvestment_Act It targeted low-moderate income neighborhoods...Kind of sounds like everyone but upper class. Read it before you type through your emotions. Social Security Elderly people past 65 still work and can't live only off the checks. Otherwise everyone past 65 would be retired. Government Housing Has the highest crime rates in America. I'd love to see an episode of cops where they run through a suburb, probably won't happen. Government programs fail, our fore fathers designed us to have small government, can we stop abusing what we take for granted? Let the private sector run it's self since the people choose what they want, just like how the people choose what private companies to start. 50% of the GNP comes from small business. -Fortune Magazine. Wake up Americans, THE GOVERNMENT CAN NOT MAKE WEALTH, ONLY GENERATE INCOME THROUGH TAXATION. That's how socialism works is when everyone gets the same treatment through taxation. Like health care, housing, food, etc.. I am not talking about protection like military, it's different. The preamble says "Provide for the common defense" meaning provide it do it. "promote the general welfare" it isn't promotional when you're being forced in taxes to pay for it, it becomes enforcement, if you refuse you go to jail. Charley: Wow you're so uneducated I might slap Karl Marx, someone you don't even know probably. Socialism is the redistribution of wealth for equal treatment. If everyone is being taxed to pay for these things. Guess what buddy, that's socialism. Stop making up your own definitions. Well thank god we got the right to bare arms, I got a stock pile so when the country becomes socialist officially, I'll practice that right and fight an anarchy. Just like the fore fathers fighting big brother king government. Except this time it be between our own country. scammaj12: Health care reform is the expansion of government regulation, that's what liberals are doing right now. What if they decided to cut medicare/medicaid government ran programs and said here run the private sector. They are socialists for wanting government ran programs with the "public option" which is really a "public monopoly"

- inform the masses to keep tyranny at bay - Thomas jeff
- I think it has more to do with government incompetency, really. in which case it might well be a good idea, it's just there's morons at the helm so to speak.
- If you don't like the way we run our country you are free to leave the exits are clearly marked.
- To some extent but not fully.
- There is no socialists in this country. All liberals try to do is support government programs. That has nothing to do with socialism. If anything, their programs is too mild and doesn't far enough. Edit--I don't think YOU have read anything authored by socialist writers and you lump everything you do not agree into one pot. Get your facts straight before you rant and vent on forum. The Democrats and Republicans have always been dedicated to the capitalist system. Always have been. Always will be. Democrats supports some reform programs for working class and the poor and the Republicans support for welfare programs for the rich. So the Republicans are socialists in a sense they like to give corporate welfare for the rich and elite in this country. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU DEBATE.
- you will have a chance next year in the midterm election.
- I can only say I agree more. I only hope that people open their eyes and realize what's going to happen if we let BHO do what he wants to do.
- not under the current administration, one day we will all be government employees, we will always eat and have warmth and health care. that's right bread, soup, clothes with a coal burning stove, and aspirin, while we work for government in the jobs that were once part of the private sector.
- The American people can change anything about America. They have to vote, and it wasn't the 69 million who voted for Obama, to blame, it's the 102 million voters who didn't bother to show up in 2008. We can only hope they are hurting bad enough to kick a$s in 2010 and 2012.
- You need to jump on the libertarian train. That is the one party that actually wants to shrink the size of the federal government.
- Yes, but we have to join together and get the liberals, socialist and Obama supporters out office and keep them out. Lets get them out in 2010. Let me illustrate what I mean. Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said, "Someone may steal from it at night." So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job. Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?" So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies. Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?" So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One to do the studies and one to write the reports. Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?" So They created the following positions, a time keeper, and a payroll officer, Then hired two people. Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?" So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary. Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one Year and we are $18,000 over budget, we must cutback overall cost." So they laid off the night watchman. NOW slowly, let it sink in. Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter. Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY .... During the Carter Administration? Anybody? Anything? No? Didn't think so! Bottom line. We've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency ... the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember! Ready?? It was very simple ... and at the time, everybody thought it very appropriate. The Department of Energy was instituted on 8-04-1977. TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL. Hey, pretty efficient, huh??? AND NOW, IT'S 2009 -- 32 YEARS LATER -- AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS "NECESSARY" DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. THEY HAVE 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE! THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, "WHAT WAS I THINKING?" Ah, yes -- good ole bureaucracy. AND, NOW, WE ARE GOING TO TURN THE BANKING SYSTEM, HEALTH CARE AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY OVER TO THE SAME GOVERNMENT?
- According to the wiped article that you posted and even Dick Morris a staunch Conservative said CRA wasn't the catalyst nor was it the the propagator. Sub prime lending didn't begin till the 1980's. Most people on medicare like medicare in fact if people didn't like it they would have gotten rid of it years ago. I personally don't think the Rich should get welfare but a lot of them do. Does supply side economics ring a bell? Most people know fairly early on that Social security will not take care of them that why a lot of the baby boomers have Retirement plans. I've seen episodes of cops in suburbs cities and trailer parks I guess we watch different episodes. A major part of capitalism is that one aone fails another will rise so that statement that the government forced them to fail is a bit strange since that's part of capitalism in that when the situation changes those who can survive will and those that can't won't. this may come as a big surprise to many but the Constitution wconsolidationation of federal power, especially when you take into account the previous document the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union. It is true that a government can only move money around, however it can move this money into what are "public goods" such as roads schools as well as parks and beaches. Crime rates have decreased nationally and many public houprojectsojecs are now public-private partnerships. Most of the Founding fathers were just fine living under big brother for most of their lives. Many were wealthy landowning people and quite a few kept slaves despite the fact that they talked about freedom and liberty. I say if libertarians love the absence of government so much why don't they move to Somalia they must be considered a paradise to them.
