Have you ever had to search for an apartment long distance?

If so, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Make sure you go with a valid property management company. There have been cases of people renting property that doesn't even belong to them
  2. Yes, and it sucks. Here is my suggestion: Find some apartments on the internet. The larger professionally managed properties are probably your best bet. (Less probability of scam artists.) Use a site like apartments.com. Select maybe a dozen that appear to meet your needs and desires. Then, plan a weekend trip, and use that trip to look at your apartment selections in person. Sign a lease at that time as well. Hassle, yes, but probably better than moving out there and living out of a hotel while you try to find a decent rental.
  3. Yeah use Cazoodle Apartment Search.
