Employment agencies: Do you correspond over computer/phone or walk-in?

I noticed all the employment agencies these days have web sites for submitting your application, etc. Does this mean you are still required to go speak with them face to face, or do they correspond with you over the phone?

  1. The online application is usually the initial phase. If they find that they have a position that your skills fit then you'll still be asked to do the face to face. Also, before they can send you out on assignments you still have to complete additional paperwork, possibly test on various computer programs to make sure you meet the criteria for the job, interview and possibly even get drug tested. Most agencies won't send you out until they've actually met you and to ensure you are the best fit for their client. Anyone can sound great over the phone but you still need the face to face to fit the final pieces together to ensure they'll be the best fit for your client.
  2. Hi, some do have applications over the web, so you could fill one out in person or over the internet. You may have better luck filing out an application in person. You still need to call the employment agencies to check in like once a week. I'm pretty sure that you will still have to go in the office to fill out paperwork such as job offers and to pick up checks in some places. Some temp agencies give you a card with cash on it, but I've always had to sign for my check.
