with the Senate cutting off ACORN's stimulus funding how will Obama's civil defense force continue to exist?
The Senate voted Monday to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN, a community organization under fire in several voter-registration fraud cases. The 83-7 vote would deny housing and community grant funding to ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. The action came as the group is suffering from bad publicity after a duo of conservative activists posing as a prostitute and her pimp released hidden-camera videos in which ACORN employees in Baltimore gave advice on house-buying and how to account on tax forms for the woman's income. Two other videos, aired frequently on the FOX News Channel, depict similar situations in ACORN offices in Brooklyn and Washington, D.C. The Senate's move would mean that ACORN would not be able to win HUD grants for programs such as counseling low-income people on how to get mortgages and for fair housing education and outreach. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/14/senate-votes-cut-acorn-housing-funding/

- ACORN WILL JUST REORGANIZE UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME.
- 83-7...that means that, assuming every (R) is against it, at least 43 Dems are against it. Quit stereotyping plox...
- ACORN is an organization under attack since the campaign. People have no idea what good it really has done. Sure, there are bad people and maybe it should go away, but many people are thankful for what they have done for people who needed them. That is the truth. In every organization there are bad people. I wish republicans would be protesting at the doors of AIG and the Pharma and Health Insurance companies. That is much more important to american than ACORN Agreed? Your assistant
- It is about time. As far as I am concerned they should be required to pay back any and all monies all ready received. If this group ever did anything good (I have my doubts) it is more than overshadowed by their breaking of laws.
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vedY4dCyqo&feature=channel_page thats a video of acorn showing people how to break in homes.
- If anyone cares, here's how they voted: http://senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=1&vote=00275
- His civil defense fund was the best reason to cut them off.
- It still has to go thru congress where some of the biggest crooks rule. Obama has had a lot of close ties with this organization so I believe even if Congress and everybody else denies them funding they will still get it under some pork program or other round about way. Obama needs ACORN, especially in the next election.
- He will back-peddle, claiming that these are isolated cases and not indicative of the group as a whole. In other words, he'll LIE. Obama will get his schemes done through other means.
- Why are you labeling these JOURNALISTS as "conservative activists" ? Were Woodward and Berstein Liberal activists for exposing Watergate? Are the 60 Minutes guys activists? The female journalist posed as a 16 y.o. prostitute (underage), and the male journalist wasn't her pimp, he was posing as a politician wanting to run for Congress. They wanted to see if Acorn would help them obtain a brothel to bring in 13 y.o. girls from Nicaragua, and funnel the money to finance the congressman's campaign. Acorn workers were more than happy to help defraud the government and assist in child prostitution! Politics aside, anyone wanting to aide in child prostitution needs to be investigated and prosecuted. At the very least they should not be receiving taxpayer dollars.
- This is just the tip of the ever emerging Obama iceberg. Obama will not only be known as the black Jimmy Carter but also as the black Nixon.
